Exiled in India

    From 1950, the Chinese army takes control of the territory of Tibet, in an operation that opposes 8,500 Tibetan soldiers against 40,000 Chinese fighters.  In 1951, an agreement affirming Chinese sovereignty over Tibet is signed.  When the Dalai Lama arrived in India in 1959, he spoke out against this agreement, which he declared signed under pressure, and described the Chinese presence in Tibet as an invasion.
